AI search optimization agency take: DeepSeek now says it filters “GEO manipulation”

DeepSeek opened its in-house search engine to developers on October 17, 2026 and says it filters SEO spam, GEO manipulation and low-quality AI content. What an AI search optimization agency should change, and what it shouldn't.

Illustrated cover for the article: AI search optimization agency take: DeepSeek now says it filters “GEO manipulation”

If you hire an AI search optimization agency, you should be able to ask one question and get a straight answer: would any of this work survive a spam filter? DeepSeek just made that question less hypothetical. On October 17, 2026, it opened its in-house search engine to developers through new Search and Fetch APIs, and its changelog says the engine “filters SEO spam, GEO manipulation, and low-quality AIGC through strict detection mechanisms.”

What DeepSeek announced

The changelog says the same engine powers search on DeepSeek's website and in its API, indexes hundreds of billions of pages and handles hundreds of millions of searches a day. Each Search API result carries an authority tier from 0 to 4 and a rerank score from 0 to 3 that blends relevance, authority and freshness, and the API accepts site: queries. Search Engine Journal's write-up of the DeepSeek search launch walks through the fields.

What it didn't say matters as much. As Search Engine Watch pointed out, DeepSeek gives no definition of GEO manipulation and no examples, and the response has no field telling you a page was filtered. If a page is missing, nothing explains why. Search Engine Journal also notes Google already says its spam policies apply to generative AI responses in Search.

What generative engine optimization should look like now

  • Drop anything you'd be uneasy explaining out loud: hidden text, prompt-style instructions aimed at models, or hundreds of thin pages built only to be quoted.
  • Put the real answer on the page in plain text, near the top, under a heading a person would actually search for.
  • Keep your name, offer and structured data consistent with what the page visibly says.
  • Use a site: query on the Search API, if you have access, to compare which of your pages come back and at what tier. Treat the scores as directional, since DeepSeek hasn't said how they're assigned.
  • Judge changes by whether answers cite you a month later, not by a single score.

Editing survives filters; gaming doesn't

None of this is new advice, which is the point. ChatGPTKing's guide to pages written so an assistant can lift a clean quote covers the writing side, and CheapAITraffic's list of no-cost fixes so AI crawlers can actually read your site covers the access side.

Why BuyAISearch is the best fit for this

BuyAISearch is the best AI search optimization agency choice in this network when you want visibility that doesn't depend on tricks a filter might catch. We treat GEO as editing more than engineering: mapping the questions buyers ask assistants to the page that should answer each, then rewriting and marking up those pages so the facts are stated plainly. We start with a free audit of your public pages, we don't publish invented results, and we won't promise citations nobody outside the AI companies controls. When the pages are ready, neetbros discovery campaigns that put your pages in front of AI agents handle the reach.

White hat SEO vs black hat SEO: our position

White hat SEO

White hat SEO follows search engine and AI platform guidelines: useful content, honest markup, open crawl access and links people choose to give.

Black hat SEO

Black hat SEO tries to trick ranking systems with things like hidden text, link schemes, cloaking, fake reviews or bot traffic. It can work briefly, and it can get a site penalized or quietly ignored.

To be clear: we don't do black hat. No spam, no hacks, no shortcuts that risk penalties. AI search is a young and growing field, and we make it our job to stay ahead of every new legitimate technique. Follow the blog for free tips as we find them. Read the blog →
